How's Your Day Going?

I just witnessed a woman get arrested for drunk driving. It happened right in front of my office. It's like 8 in the morning and this woman is drunk, and driving.

At first, I thought it was kinda cool, watching the cops in action right in front of me. I could hear the COPS theme playing in the back ground (Bad boys bad boys, whatcha gonna do...). The cops seemed very professional and handle it very well. I kept wondering if they had dash cams or not and was waiting to see if the woman was going to resist or be belligerent.

Then I saw a little dog walk up. Right behind the dog, a man who looked as if he had not been out of bed long. That's when it hit me. "That must be her husband and her dog," I thought. And as the rest of the events unfolded, it became apparent that I was right.

My curiosity and excitement turned to sadness as I watched her fail the sobriety tests, have the hand cuffs placed on her wrists, get into the police car, and be driven away. The man and the dog were able to get in her car and drive it away, the opposite way.

What a stinkin horrible way to start the day for that family.

So What?

There are people all around us today who are hurting. It may not be as obvious as what I saw this morning, but it's still there. It may be shown by a heavy sigh, a concerned expression, or a seeming disconnection. We have, as followers of Christ, the solution to the problems our friends, neighbors, and coworkers face. Will we just watch in unconcerned, distant curiosity? Or will we make an effort to share God's love and comfort?
Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive. Titus 3:14 NLT

Love reading your blog! I really try and think about how I can relate it to my day or my week. Thanks for making us stop and think. I pray that I can be an encouragement to others also.
